Twitch Star Amouranth Criticized for Reading Chat While Driving

Twitch streamer Amouranth has been heavily criticized after seemingly being caught reading Twitch chat while driving.

This is the second time that the streamer has been in the news this year, as Amouranth was also banned from Twitch for an NSFW wardrobe accident.

Yesterday, Amouranth broadcasted an IRL stream for her viewers where she streamed herself while driving. However, in one clip from the stream, she appears to look down at her phone so that she can read the messages viewers are leaving for her in Twitch chat.

Amouranth’s viewers then began to post messages telling the streamer that she may be violating Twitch’s terms of service, which says that streamers are “prohibited” from doing any “activity that may endanger your life or lead to your physical harm” such as “dangerous or distracted driving.” The Twitch streamer, who has more than 1.5 million followers on the site, was only banned for three days for her NSFW wardrobe accident but Twitch could potentially hand out a longer ban if she got caught violating the terms of service for a second time.

The streamer appears to know this, which is why, after someone turned the alleged driving and reading into a Twitch clip, he recording of the original stream was then deleted from Amouranth’s channel. This is something that Fortnite player Tfue did when he was caught saying the ‘n’ word, and it worked as Twitch didn’t ban him for it.

Twitch has been heavily criticized for the way that it bans its users, so much so that streamer Ninja threw some major shade at the company just days before TwitchCon 2019. The company has failed to ban some streamers, such as Alinity, who was accused of animal abuse, while others have been banned for reasons such as using a SpongeBob emote.
