  • Prince Harry and Meghan Markle been criticized for their decision to leave the royal life behind.
  • Josh Adams and Anthony Del Col wrote a comic book called “The Great Escape,” which detailed the true story of how—and why— the Sussexes left the British royal family.
  • In summary, Prince Harry wanted out for a long time, so we need to stop blaming Meghan Markle for the decision.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got the comic book treatment.

Josh Adams and Anthony Del Col—who previously wrote a comic book detailing the Trump impeachment—have penned “The Great Escape” about the Sussexes’ departure as active members of the British royal family.

This fair shake for Harry and Meghan is long overdue.

Prince Harry Wanted Out For a Long Time—And ‘The Great Escape’ Explains That

“The Great Escape,” which went viral the second it was released, details the story of Prince Harry up until, and including, the time he departed as an active member of the British royal family.

It detailed, in a very touching way, how deeply affected he was by Princess Diana’s death in 1997, and how his mother’s death tainted his entire view of both being a royal and the media.

According to the comic, Harry’s old antipathies were brought bubbling to the surface as his wife, Meghan Markle, faced an onslaught of racism from the British gutter press.

Most of all, the comic makes clear that the choice to leave the British royal family was Prince Harry’s and Prince Harry’s alone—and the statement that he made (“the decision I made for my wife and I) only proves that fact.

For the Last Time, He’s a Grown Man

Never mind the racist attacks on Meghan Markle—which have been plentiful—and never mind the fact that Prince Harry has wanted out of the royal family since, at the very least, 1997. The very insinuation that he’s anything but a mid-30s grown man who can make his own decisions is infantilizing and ridiculous.

If Meghan were a social-climbing gold-digger desperate for relevance and titles—as her worst detractors accuse—she would have insisted Harry stay in the British royal family, not support his decision to leave it.

It’s a shame that it took a comic book to depict what was going on with Prince Harry.
