Argentina’s Steam Store Reveals Ridiculous Discounts This Halloween Sale

As Steam’s Halloween Sale launched yesterday, the platform went down for over an hour. It’s no wonder as nearly 15 million players across the globe stormed the storefront in search of hefty discounts.

The servers couldn’t handle the load. It’s now par for the course for these types of sales. If Steam didn’t crash, it wouldn’t feel like a genuine sale. Fortunately, the platform stabilized and was up again in no time.

Looking a little closer at what deals Steam has cooked up for the occasion, it appears certain regions get a better deal of it than others. Especially Argentina, where a newly-elected President is attempting to fix the country’s economic crisis.

Hefty Steam Discounts On AAA Titles

Take, for example, Rockstar Games’ acclaimed crime-sim, Grand Theft Auto V. While US Steam store users benefit from a 50% discount that brings the price down to $14.99, users in Argentina can pick it up for $5.89. That’s around 60% off the base price in Argentinian pesos.

Another perennial top seller on Steam, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, is on sale for $2.42 in Argentina, compared to $11.99 the US Store. Both are 70% off in their respective regions.

Halloween-Themed Games

In keeping with seasonal festivities, let’s take a look at spooky multiplayer hunter vs. prey title, Dead By Daylight. Once again, Argentinian users can buy the game with 50% off for the equivalent of $1.89, while those in the US have to splash out $9.99.

Staying with the Halloween theme, Steam is flogging RESIDENT EVIL 2 with a 50% discount. That’s $10.35 in Argentina and $29.99 in the US.

And just to hammer home the point, PUBG is selling for 50% off at $5.38 in Argentina and $14.99 in the US.

These are some sizable differences in pricing. Of course, we have to factor in regional pricing structures to understand them. Nevertheless, if you’re based in Argentina and you’ve got some cash to spare, it’d be a crime not to make the most of the Halloween Sale and bolster your newly revamped Steam library.
